Our Visit Experience at Gasthof Sternen Bümpliz
The traditional building of Gasthof Sternen Bümpliz has an impressive charm from the outside. Because of the nice weather, we chose a table on the terrace, which is simple but functional. Since the inn is in a traffic-calmed area, we enjoyed a peaceful atmosphere without noisy cars.
The service was quick and attentive. A nice touch: bottled water and other drinks are served open, which is not common everywhere. I ordered a mixed salad, which was surprisingly cheap at CHF 5, but also quite small. For the main dish, I had the Zürcher Kalbsgeschnetzeltes (thin strips of veal with creamy mushroom sauce) with Rösti.
The salad was a simple mixed green salad with French dressing. The Kalbsgeschnetzeltes came in a generous portion and was served with an appealing Rösti. Typical for a country inn, the plate was decorated with canned fruit and cream. Even though I was already full, I treated myself to meringues with two scoops of ice cream and a lot of cream for just over CHF 10 – a real delight.
Overall, the visit was pleasant and met the expectations one would have for a country inn on the outskirts of Bern.
