Our Visit Experience at Klötzlikeller Bern
A Descent into Bernese History

From Gerechtigkeitsgasse, a lantern points the way to the Klötzlikeller.

A staircase then leads down into the historical vaulted cellar.

It reveals an impressive vault made of red bricks. Inside, there are stylishly set tables with white tablecloths. The atmosphere is rustic yet elegant – a perfect place for a cozy evening in Bern's Old Town.
Straightforward and Honest Service
The service deserves special mention. We experienced it as natural and not at all artificial. A particular highlight was how they handled a small "crisis": when we noticed that the fondue was boiling too hard because of a stuck spirit burner and was about to "break" (separate), the server reacted immediately. The fondue was taken to the kitchen, expertly saved there, and returned to the table with a perfect consistency. This shows true hospitality and professional competence.
Swiss Classics: From Fresh Salad to Fondue
The menu is deliberately kept simple and is a clear commitment to Swiss cuisine.

My meal started with a small green salad. It was garnished with cress. Crunchy, fresh, and an ideal start.

The cheese fondue (sourced from the traditional shop Chäsbueb) was very spicy and strong in flavor. At the beginning, the consistency seemed a bit liquid, but this quickly settled. It was served classically with fresh bread and "Gschwellti" (small, whole boiled potatoes), which offered a welcome change from just eating bread.

Although we chose the fondue, the menu also offers classics like Wiener Schnitzel or Cordon Bleu.
