Our Dining Experience at Grotto Ticino Bern
As soon as I walked into Ticino, I felt comfortable. The brick walls and solid wood tables create a cozy atmosphere. The staff took our orders quickly, and were friendly and humorous throughout. The owner even stopped by briefly to greet us.
To start, I chose a green salad with a really flavorful dressing. It came with crusty, fresh bread. My main course was an original Ticinese Luganighetta (sausage) on a saffron risotto. The authentic Ticinese sausage was really delicious. The risotto had a creamy consistency and a nice saffron flavor. Other tasty dishes were served at our table – for example, the Fagottini di Parma. These are small stuffed pasta purses in a cream sauce with Parma ham. These were also really tasty, but very filling.
With the rustic interior and the original Ticinese food, you almost feel like you're on vacation at Grotto Ticino. The "mini-vacation" ended with an Affogato, which is a scoop of vanilla ice cream in an espresso.
I can really recommend Ristorante Grotto Ticino Bern. Because in addition to dishes that you can get in other similar restaurants, Ticino has real specialties. For example, the Pizza Marinara without cheese, or Pizza Bianca without tomato sauce.
