Our Experience at ChäsChäuer Bern

The restaurant is very close to the Zytglogge clock tower and clearly marked. Walking down the stairs into the cellar, you'll find wooden tables with cheese and wine shelves creating a cozy backdrop. The ChäsChäuer has one long table with limited seating, so securing your spot in advance is recommended!
The service was friendly throughout our visit, with staff happy to chat.
ChäsChäuer is mainly open at lunchtime and offers various fondues. Their specialty is the Gin Fondue – unfortunately, our group wasn't adventurous enough to try it. Why not be bold and try this unique fondue on your visit?
Since the menu focuses on cheese dishes, we went straight for the fondue. We would have enjoyed a platter of dried meats as a starter. We chose the "Chäsbueb Mixture" and the classic Moitié-Moitié fondue, with aromatic Gruyère and fine Fribourg Vacherin – perfect for cheese lovers!
The Moitié-Moitié fondue impressed with its creamy texture. The house mixture was slightly more liquid but developed its full, spicy flavor over time.
The wine selection is modest but includes options from Switzerland, France, Italy, and Spain.
For dessert, guests can choose from ice cream and other treats. Try the light meringues with Gruyère Double Crème – a wonderful sweet finish!
