Our Dining Experience at Della Casa Bern
A Grand Historical Building with its Own "Laube"
Della Casa is located in a historic building. With its red shutters and geraniums on the windowsills, the house looks very well-maintained.
A special feature is its own "Laube" (stone arcade), where simple tables and chairs invite guests to linger outside. In winter, guests can keep warm with provided blankets.
Lively Atmosphere in a rustic Interior
We reserved a table in the "Gaststube" on the ground floor. The section of the restaurant on the first floor is slightly more upscale and is called "Au Premier." As soon as you enter the restaurant, you can feel the lively and bustling vibe. The interior is very "urchig" (rustic) and cozy: lots of dark wood and classic wooden tables define the look. During our visit, the service was very friendly, attentive, and professional. It was particularly positive that the staff seemed very natural and not artificial—both while serving and clearing the table.
Authentic Venison Dining at Della Casa Bern
My meal started with a tomato soup with Gin. It was a solidly prepared tomato soup - tasting beautifully of tomatoes with a thickened yet liquid consistency..
For the main course, I ordered the venison cutlets (Rehschnitzel). The cutlets were served on a game sauce, accompanied by spätzli, red cabbage with caramelized chestnuts, and a cooked apple half with cranberries.
The meat was, for the most part, very tender and cooked to a perfect medium-rare. It had a mild, pleasant game flavor. The spätzli were very aromatic, and the red cabbage convinced with a slightly acidic taste and perfect cooking time. The game sauce had a lovely, rather bold aroma from the Cognac, though the consistency was a bit too thin.
A Generous Portion of Ice Coffee
For dessert, I had an "Eiscafé." The portion was very generous, consisting of coffee, coffee and vanilla ice cream, and plenty of whipped cream. A successful, classic conclusion for lovers of traditional sundaes.
