Since opening on 17 October 2026, Restaurant Schmied has been at Schmiedenplatz – where the Schmiedstube once stood. In a modern setting with wooden tables and large glass windows, its small, refined menu delivers – the pork cheeks with dark jus and the pumpkin soup are real highlights.

After moving from Helvetiaplatz, Moules Edy has found a new home in the historic "Goldener Schlüssel" on Rathausgasse. The Moules au Pernod served piping hot on the réchaud are spot on – only the salad was a little limp.

Osteria da Santo in Bümpliz is a true hidden gem: an Italian restaurant inside a wooden chalet, tucked away behind the Bienzgut. The bruschetta is huge, though the pasta turns out too dry – the trip is still worth it, above all thanks to the hostess serving you personally.

DOCK8 Bern – Lunch on the Terrace in the Holliger Housing Estate
At DOCK8 you eat on a terrace right in the middle of the Holliger housing estate – red chairs and views of the apartment blocks and the green courtyard. At lunch a daily changing menu: a creamy pumpkin soup, perch fillets with salt potatoes and carrots, and a dense brownie. Simple cooking, but cleanly done – and with coffee and water around CHF 30–40.

Nooch Asian Kitchen Bern – Asian Cuisine at Viktoriaplatz
At Nooch Asian Kitchen on Bern's Viktoriaplatz there is a big terrace, dark wood tables, lots of red in the interior and a heavy lighting with pearl-coloured tiles. We tried chicken gyoza, tantanmen (»Nippon Bridge«) and yuzu mochi – solid kitchen, and after an initially slow start the service turned polite and swift.
