- Small, authentic Italian restaurant with no pizza – focus on pasta, meat and fish

- Warm service, very popular and usually fully booked
Arrival in the business district
From RBS Papiermühle station, walk up Mühlestrasse into the Stufenbau business and cultural area. Hidden between larger buildings is a small freestanding pavilion – that’s Azienda. Unassuming from outside, but wonderfully cosy inside.
Atmosphere
The space is compact but beautifully laid out. Wooden tables, a striking floor-to-ceiling wine wall, and a constant buzz – when we visited, the restaurant was full. Service was warm and friendly.
Food
Starter: Salad
A fresh salad with a pleasantly tangy dressing to start.
Main: Veal Piccata
I went for the Veal Piccata. The egg-parmesan crust was thick and wonderfully cheesy, the veal itself beautifully tender. It came with spaghetti – traditionally served with just a light coating of tomato sauce, which is authentic Italian style but may not be for everyone.
To finish, an excellent coffee.
Verdict
Azienda is exactly the kind of small, authentic Italian gem you’d hope to find: no frills, no pizza, just a focus on good ingredients and classic dishes. The piccata is spot on, service is warm, atmosphere is cosy. 4.2 out of 5 – highly recommended, just make sure to book ahead as it’s very popular.
