Visit to Süder in Bern

The interior of Süder feels elegant, with its wooden floor, dark wooden tables, and wood-paneled walls. Additionally, the tables are set very neatly. The attentive and knowledgeable service further enhances the elegant atmosphere.
As a starter, I chose the tartare. The kitchen prepared and seasoned it very well. The tartare was served practically, with tartare, butter, and toast on one plate. For the main course, I had veal strips in wild mushroom sauce with raw rösti. The rösti is called "raw" when the potatoes are not cooked before frying. The pieces of meat were cut to a nice size, and everything tasted excellent. The rösti was crispy, and the vegetables were very flavorful. A lovely cheese platter with fruit bread and a scoop of tonka bean ice cream completed the meal.
Our table didn't know what a tonka bean tasted like, so the host spontaneously brought a tonka bean to the table.
In addition to the food, we tasted several wines, and I was particularly impressed by the value for money of the Bordeaux and the Bolgheri (see also FAQ).
