Seidenhof is located on a side street of the Länggasse – a quiet location, ideal for a relaxed evening outdoors. The garden with the large chestnut trees invites you to linger. During my visit in February, it was unfortunately too cold for the garden, but in summer it must be beautiful there.

The interior is deliberately kept simple – lots of wood, plain tables, minimal decoration. That’s exactly the charm of Seidenhof: here, it’s about the food, not the appearance. The atmosphere is family-friendly and relaxed.

Starter: Bruschetta

The bruschetta comes on roasted bread with nicely diced tomatoes and fine garlic flavor. You can tell that not too much oil was used – simple and honest. For CHF 8.50, a solid starter.

Dessert: Affogato

The affogato – a scoop of vanilla ice cream with espresso in a wide dessert bowl – is a classic finish. The vanilla ice cream still had slight ice crystals, indicating it wasn’t stored optimally. Otherwise, a good dessert.

The service at Seidenhof is fast, friendly, and attentive. The staff is responsive without being intrusive. You can tell that the team knows their craft and appreciates the guests.
