Visit to Restaurant Zum Zähringer Bern
The Zähringer – as locals in Bern also call Restaurant Zum Zähringer – is located in a truly beautiful old building. Inside, the Zähringer offers a lovely interior. During our current visit, we dined in the front area of the restaurant. In contrast, during a previous visit with a larger group, we were hosted in a beautiful separate room.
The service welcomed us warmly and humorously accompanied us throughout our visit. The menu is intentionally concise, partly to allow for high-quality cuisine. Therefore, the focus is on a multi-course menu that changes regularly. Additionally, the Zähringer offers a selection of classic dishes. I chose a Wiener Schnitzel. Instead of the potato-cucumber salad, I had fries. I also ordered a salad to start.
The salad was delicious, made up of various types of leaves, especially lamb's lettuce and endive. The Wiener Schnitzel consisted of two smaller schnitzels, which the kitchen prepared very fresh and perfectly. The fries were also fresh and tasty. For three people, two small bowls of fries were provided to share. Although the amount was likely sufficient, we decided to ask for an extra bowl midway through the meal. The service quickly brought it to us.
Finally, we had a coffee, which was served with some pastries.
Overall, the experience at the Zähringer was flawless in terms of food and service. However, a Wiener Schnitzel may not be the best dish to judge a restaurant's potential. All in all, the Zähringer is definitely worth a visit.

Directions to Restaurant Zum Zähringer Bern
From Bern Station, it's best to take bus number 12 towards "Bern, Zentrum Paul Klee" and get off at the Rathaus stop. Then, walk 5 minutes on foot to Münsterplattform, and then down the stairs. There is also a paid lift from Münsterplattform.
