Visit to Landhaus Liebefeld

Interior of Landhaus Liebefeld

A round birthday of a friend brought us to Landhaus Liebefeld Bern. We had an aperitif outside. The server gave us wine recommendations, which tasted good.

Afterwards, we went to our table in the Rôtisserie, where Landhaus Liebefeld serves upscale cuisine. Besides that, there are other opportunities to eat, e.g. the Gaststube (traditional dining room). The Rôtisserie includes parts of wine presses, which give it a rustic charm.

After an amuse-bouche, my appetizer, the melon carpaccio with raw ham, came to the table. The melon was on a bed of prosciutto. On top of that, the chef garnished the dish with olive oil and olives. For me, it was too much oil, as it impaired the consistency of the melon and ham. Tasty bread came with it.

For the main course, we decided on Chateaubriand. Landhaus Liebefeld Bern serves this in two services. On the first service, we found a baked potato as a side dish. On the second service, there was a pot with toasted bread, olives and olive oil – called Panzanella. The toasted bread and olives were tasty, only they were swimming in olive oil. Landhaus also serves herb butter, tzatziki and barbecue sauce with it.

Personally, next time I would just eat an Entrecote-Pfännchen (small pan of entrecote) – that looked very tasty.

The friend we celebrated also had noble wines from Bordeaux and Tuscany served, but I didn't remember them.

With the coffee, Landhaus offered tasty sweets, of which I really liked the quince jelly.
