Our Visit Experience at Park Café Kleine Schanze Bern
Relaxation in the Green Near the Train Station
Park Café Kleine Schanze Bern consists of a small building and a large terrace with many sun umbrellas. It is located in the well-known Bern park "Kleine Schanze," which gives the café its name. Thanks to its location in the park, it is a bit cooler than in the city. Plus, you really sit in green space right in the middle of the city.
We had reserved a table in the shade and got it without any problems. The atmosphere is relaxed and summery, perfect for recovering from the city hustle and bustle.
Friendly Service and Summer Cuisine
Funny enough, the service changed about 3 times during our visit, but this wasn't a problem since all staff members were consistently friendly and helpful. We were served quickly.
The menu at Park Café Kleine Schanze Bern is deliberately limited and focused on the summer season. You can find various salads with grilled items, roast beef plates, and similar light dishes.
There is a good selection of drinks and cocktails. Mineral water is also available in the carafe. However, a look at the wine menu shows only a very small selection of exactly 2 wines – there would certainly be room for a bit more variety.
Food Quality is Good
I ordered a bratwurst with salad and fries. These were brought, the fries came a bit later. The salad was excellent and consisted of different leaf salads, spinach, and other fresh ingredients. The fries were quite generous for a small portion, so my companions could also enjoy some.
Since a companion had to leave early, we unfortunately couldn't try the dessert.
The crowd consists mainly of locals, but the place is certainly open and welcoming to tourists.
