Italian Flair Right Next to Bern's Upscale Address
The Pizzeria Da Keli Bern is prominently and invitingly located right next to the famous luxury hotel Bellevue, in the heart of Bern's Old Town. Upon arrival, the spacious terrace immediately catches the eye. In summer, it offers tables under the shady leaves of noble chestnut trees. Well-maintained parasols provide additional shade. Paired with the view of the Gurten and the charming gravel square, this creates a beautiful and relaxed atmosphere, perfect for warm summer days. It brings an ideal feeling of Italian lightness – right in Bern.
Modern and Attentive Service
The service at Da Keli is consistently correct and friendly. The staff use digital devices to take orders. This is efficient, but seems a bit cumbersome for spontaneous changes to orders. Also noticeable are the headsets worn by all service staff. This almost looks like a small security team – but it also allows for efficient communication in the large restaurant area. Overall, the service was absolutely fine and attentive.
Extensive Selection and Convincing Quality
The menu is similar to other Italian restaurants in Bern. Besides a wide variety of pizzas, which offer something for every taste, there's also a seasonal offer that promises variety.
I started with a bruschetta, which was solid and good: nicely toasted bread with fresh tomatoes – a good start. For the main course, I chose the Pizza Piccante, and it was truly excellent! The base was nicely crispy. The pizza was well-topped and had the right amount of cheese – not too much and not too little. This also meant it wasn't heavy in the stomach. All in all, the quality of the food was convincing.
A visit to Da Keli, especially on warm summer days, offers a wonderful outdoor experience with authentic Italian flair.
