Visit to Contra Corrente in Bern
Contra Corrente is located a bit outside the city near Schosshaldenfriedhof and is easily accessible by bus no. 10. Upon entering, the interior looks elegant. It is simply but stylishly decorated, with hanging (plastic) plants.
The staff is friendly and brought us delicious bruschetta at the start – as a gift from the house.
As a main course, I ordered an ossobuco, which was perfectly braised and served juicy. The gremolata was arranged on top of the meat. There was also fresh pesto on the plate, which is probably mainly for visual appeal. The risotto as a side was al dente and prepared with enough liquid. However, we would have liked a slightly larger portion.
As a sweet end to the meal, we ordered a tiramisu “to share,” which the head of service very accommodatingly made possible. The tiramisu was as delicious as the main course.
A round of limoncello with generously filled glasses rounded off the meal.
