Visit to Arlequin in Bern
At Arlequin, guests can sit inside or outside on the street, and we chose to sit inside. The restaurant has a rustic interior that fits perfectly with the menu, which features numerous Swiss dishes.
The house specialty is fondue, which is why we ordered fondue. For four people, we ordered two different fondues: one “Fribourg style (Moitié-Moitié)” and a “Piccante (with cayenne pepper and Dijon mustard).”
The Moitié-Moitié fondue was very tasty and had a creamy consistency – not too runny. It came with bread and potatoes. The Piccante fondue, which my tablemates ordered, had a slightly distinctive taste. But that’s to be expected with a mustard-based fondue.
During our visit, the service was always very friendly and uncomplicated. We also chatted with the host, for example about Arlequin’s clientele. It apparently consists of about 50% locals and 50% tourists, which is to be expected given its location in Bern’s Old Town. In any case, we felt very welcome. At the end, the host even offered us a limoncello on the house.
