Discover creative fusion cuisine at Sua Bern, designed to help you slow down! The focus at Sua Bern is on slow-cooked dishes from various culinary traditions. This creates a diversity of flavors waiting to be explored. Sua doesn’t limit itself to braising, as our visit shows, but orients itself toward care and exceptional dishes. The fantastic location in the Old Town near Zytglogge adds to the atmosphere.
Our Visit Experience at Sua Bern
Sua Bern is located on the quiet Münstergasse, literally one block away from the very busy Kramgasse. When the weather is warm enough, guests can enjoy the tranquility on the terrace. Since it was nice and sunny during our visit, we settled outside right away. The tables and chairs stand directly on the cobblestones, separated from the street by a rope.
The menu at Sua Bern draws from different countries. For example, there’s a South American-influenced sous-vide steak with chimichurri, Spanish octopus, Swiss beef tartare, Italian ravioli on French ratatouille, and an Indian curry.
On our last visit, we came for lunch at Sua Bern. We could choose from options like tartare, pasta, chicken or eggplant on a summer salad, meatballs, or feta with white beans and tomato sauce. I went for the beef meatballs (keftedes) with white beans in tomato sauce (loubia) and tabbouleh. At lunch, a garden salad is served beforehand.
Great quality wins over even skeptical guests
The salad, described on the menu as “with homemade dressing, crunchy seeds, and toasted bread,” was already a great start. Sua Bern had assembled various lettuce leaves, marinated with a balsamic dressing, and decorated with seeds. It came with a piece of dark bread that had been toasted.
What really convinced me was the combination of a piece of meatball, some tomato sauce and yogurt, and tabbouleh. Carefully cooked, it simply tastes great.
