Visit to Landhaus Liebefeld
A friend’s milestone birthday brought us to Landhaus Liebefeld Bern. We had the aperitif outside. The service staff gave wine recommendations that hit the mark.
Afterwards, we went to our table in the Rôtisserie, where Landhaus Liebefeld serves upscale cuisine. There are also other dining options, such as the guest house. The Rôtisserie incorporates parts of wine presses, which lend a rustic charm.
After an amuse-bouche, my starter arrived: melon carpaccio with cured ham. The melon sat on a bed of prosciutto. The chef garnished the dish with olive oil and olives. For me, there was too much oil, which affected the texture of the melon and ham. Delicious bread accompanied it.
For the main course, we chose chateaubriand. Landhaus Liebefeld Bern serves this in two courses. The first course came with a baked potato as a side. The second course brought a small pot with toasted bread, olives, and olive oil – called panzanella. The toasted bread and olives were tasty, but they were swimming in olive oil. The restaurant also serves herb butter, tzatziki, and barbecue sauce alongside.
Personally, I would simply order an entrecôte in a pan next time – that looked very delicious.
The birthday person also treated us to fine wines from Bordeaux and Tuscany, though I didn’t note which ones.
With coffee, the restaurant offered delicious complimentary sweets, of which I particularly enjoyed the quince jelly.
