Visit to La Tribuna de Calvo in Bern
Since we wanted to eat paella, we pre-ordered our table as well as the paella. When we arrived, we were greeted very warmly with handshakes.
The interior of Tribuna is very simple. The clientele is largely Spanish-speaking. The staff also speaks Spanish. That’s why you almost feel like you’re in Spain.
To start, we ordered some tapas together, including jamón and croquetas. The chef also offered a complimentary salad, which we greatly appreciated. Then the paella arrived at the table in a large pan. Although there were three of us, the paella would have easily been enough for 6 people. It was also very generous, just as it should be. The paella contained prawns, small clams, mussels, calamari rings, and chicken. The rice was very well prepared – still slightly al dente. All of this made the paella very tasty – just the way I like it!
Also worth highlighting is that the wines are extremely affordable. Yet they are of good quality. After the meal, we treated ourselves to carajillos, coffee with brandy. Afterwards, my tablemates drank brandy. With the bill came a Spanish herbal liqueur, which I enjoyed very much.
