Galleria Luce is the elegant offshoot of Ristorante Luce, right at Waisenhausplatz in the heart of Bern. Both restaurants share the same kitchen, but Galleria Luce presents itself as slightly more stylish and modern.
Our Dining Experience at Galleria Luce Bern
Galleria Luce is centrally located at Waisenhausplatz, just a five-minute walk from the train station. Upon entering, the tasteful decor immediately catches the eye – modern yet warm, with great attention to detail.
Stylish Ambience with a Historic Touch
The front area welcomes guests with elegant, modern furnishings. Moving further back, the space opens up to historic sandstone walls – a beautiful contrast that gives the restaurant a special depth. The clientele is rather upscale, the atmosphere refined yet pleasantly relaxed.
The service was friendly and attentive, striving to serve correctly. A small mishap – a table companion was brought the wrong dish – was actively corrected, though the colleague generously declined the replacement.
From Bruschetta to Carpaccio
I started with a bruschetta. The bread was well-toasted, the tomatoes fresh, and the combination with onions and garlic was balanced. A solid start, though nothing exceptional.
For my main course, I chose the carpaccio – which, as declared, turned out to be a starter portion. The quality of the meat was excellent. It was topped with fresh rocket, a fine dressing, and grana. The combination of slightly bitter rocket, savoury grana, and the dressing was refreshing and harmonious.
Since the portion was a bit small for me, I gladly tried a piece of the calzone that a colleague had ordered. It was crispy and well-filled.
To finish, I had a coffee accompanied by a small pastry – dried, it would probably have been a biscotti or similar. A fine conclusion.
Overall, Galleria Luce Bern offers a refined, relaxed atmosphere with above-average quality. If you’re looking for a stylish Italian restaurant in a central location, this is a great choice.
