Nooch Asian Kitchen lies right on Dählhölzli-style… no. Nooch Asian Kitchen sits directly at Viktoriaplatz, right by the tram stop. The entrance is not quite easy to spot – we walked in through the terrace. Inside, dark wood tables dominate, along with lots of red and heavy lamps with pearl-coloured tiles.

The big terrace invites you to sit outside on sunny days – an ideal stop for uncomplicated Asian food.

    The Kitchen: Japanese Asian-kitchen specialities

    Starter: Chicken Gyoza

Chicken gyoza with dip at Nooch Asian Kitchen Bern Viktoriaplatz

The chicken gyoza had the typical gyoza flavour – a mix of mince, spices and garlic. Dipped into a soy-vinegar-chilli dip, they create just the tasty combination you expect from these dumplings. The skin was a bit brittle and less elastic than hoped – but overall okay.

    Main: Tantanmen «Nippon Bridge»

Tantanmen (»Nippon Bridge«) at Nooch Asian Kitchen Bern Viktoriaplatz

The «Nippon Bridge» is a tantanmen – ramen noodles in a creamy-spicy sesame soup, topped with pan-fried minced meat, nori strips and ginger julienne. The noodles were nicely al dente, the soup creamy-spicy, the minced meat flavourful. The raw ginger as a topping was an unexpected but refreshing touch. As a Japan connoisseur, I found the tantanmen completely on point – better than expected.

    Dessert: Yuzu Mochi

For coffee we had a refreshing yuzu mochi – a shell of rice starch filled with refreshing yuzu (citrus) ice cream. The perfect light finish.

    Service

The service started off a bit slow at first, but then turned polite and swift. The waiter even came back to ask whether everything was all right. We found Nooch solid – and can definitely recommend it.

Solid Pick

🥈 Solid Pick — 4.2 / 5

At Nooch Asian Kitchen on Bern's Viktoriaplatz there is a big terrace, dark wood tables, lots of red in the interior and a heavy lighting with pearl-coloured tiles. We tried chicken gyoza, tantanmen (»Nippon Bridge«) and yuzu mochi – solid kitchen, and after an initially slow start the service turned polite and swift.

Plus:

For whom? Schnelles Asia-Essen in der Mittagspause, Tantanmen- und Gyoza-Fans (Japan-Erinnerungen), Wettertaugliche, grosse Terrasse, All-you-can-eat am Montagabend
